Shadrak (Shak) Gobert

Founder and AR Designer

I’m Shadrak (Shak) Gobert, an Indigenous Augmented Reality designer of Nêhiyawak (Cree) ancestry and a proud member of the Frog Lake First Nation, situated in Treaty 6 territory. For some time, I’ve envisioned Peyak as a platform to seamlessly blend Indigenous culture and storytelling within emerging tech spaces—a pursuit that is both exhilarating and rewarding. I hope you share in this excitement, and I thank you for visiting. Feel free to get in touch.

Origins

Peyak,” meaning “one” in the Plains Cree Y dialect, was the name lovingly given to me by my Nokum (grandmother). It perfectly embodies the spirit of this project: a pioneering fusion of Indigenous design, culture, and placemaking with AR storytelling and emerging technologies.

As a 3D and AR creator, I am deeply passionate about sharing our designs, stories, and teachings in captivating new ways through interactive and spatial computing experiences. By blending contemporary methods with traditional knowledge systems, Peyak offers a unique opportunity to immerse society in the richness of our histories while showcasing the beauty of Indigenous design through innovative mediums.

More than a brand, Peyak is a space where one can experience Indigenous culture in unexpected ways, through items that captivate and inspire those who wear them. Our people have always been innovators, inventors, and above all, resilient. As we step further into the age of spatial computing, Peyak stands as a testament to this enduring spirit
